25% off beading patterns

I am back again...peeping out at you, wondering what you are doing :)

I've been busy, beading up and writing a new
PONDO STITCH pattern

Upper Crust

It's an extra wide cuff (over 2inches/6cm wide)  with super texture and...its easy to bead.

I just love extra wide cuffs and this one really fits the bill for me. It has the width and the weight, it's not blingy (I'm just not that way inclined ) but it is super interesting with the textured layer that is added and it curls gently like and old friend around your wrist.

Now, If you are a blingy type of gal...you can play around with the pattern (once you have learned how to embellish this Pondo Cuff) and add sparkle and shine to your hearts content. 2mm crystals and tiny drops come to mind.....I would love to see what UPPER CRUST looks like all blinged up.....

If you are interested in grabbing the pattern, use my DISCOUNT CODE,  25CRUST and get 25% of the price of $8.00 ...that makes it only $6.00 for a whole lot of beading fun. You can also use the code for any of the patterns in my shops. Click on the links to the right and have Fun!

A week in the Bush

I recently spent a wonderful week in The Waterberg, in a private game lodge called Mabula Lodge. I was nestled away in Camp Mojadji, which is named after an African Rain Queen.

Where better than in the bush to write my new pattern. What better reason would there be to work with an old African beading stitch better known as  PONDO STITCH but also referred to as AFRICAN CIRCLE STITCH.

There are not many patterns available for this wonderful stitch. I first came across it in a South African Beading magazine a few years back and did bead up the cuff. Something was missing tho, it was too sloppy and loose, which did not appeal to me.

It was much later that PONDO STITCH came up again on Face Book and on mentioning the fact that I was not so sure about the stritch, what with it being so loose, Mikki Ferrugiaro made mention of the extra thread path that some beaders had employed, which made it that mush sturdier. It made sense to me and I was sold!

I beaded up a number of cuffs, which I sold. I had it in mind that I should write up an easy pattern with a bit of interest and it was only when I knew that I was going away, for a week, on my own, that I knew it was time to make good on the idea.

So, amid the game drives, Elephant rides and peaceful views (plus a bottle of Red), I sat down and did just that and MOJADJI was born.

Just a random quickie

Get the link to my free Craw Mekanix mini manual at the end of this blog

Yep, winter is trying to push it's foot into the door. Not that I am complaining...summer was a real tart this year, all hot and steamy, which is the last thing you want when menopause is your new 'best friend'. Yeah well, as they say, 'Life moves on'.

It is now 8 months since I stopped smoking (can you believe it?) and it seems that I may have finally stopped putting on the extra weight. I should not be too unhappy about it...I only regained the weight I lost prior to quitting and it seems to be sitting there now...yay.

Sooooo, I have been floating quite a bit since I got out of hospital last year. My Mojo has been in hiding and I even took up pottery in November to try and pry it out into the open. I majored in ceramics back in '78 and '79 but I only have memories of the parties that come with being an art student - I have never been fond of actual studying, I am a hands on kind of person ;)
However, I was asked to submit a piece into the Regional Ceramics exhibiton, which I did, and it was accepted...and someone bought it on the 1st day! I was well pleased with that and even did my bit by doing exibition duty at the museum. There were many other exhibitions on at the same time so it was fun having a walkabout after my duty was over. A little bit of culture never harmed anyone eh?

One of my personal favourites is this round little vessel that I made. I could not submit it because it had a crack along the inner rim. I prefer that it has a home here with me.

I am also having fun playing with my picasa photo editor

So, the weekend is over and I am busy finishing off the pattern for my Navigator Cuff. It will eventually be done when I stop all the mucking about...but, life is for living and I do my very best to have a great life without causing any harm to man or beast. This does however mean that time runs away from me and things take their own sweet time. Oh well, nobody is perfect ;)

50 reasons to celebrate

 Yes, I am still around...somewhere:)

Its like pulling hen's teeth getting me to sit down, be quite and actually blog. I somehow find this side of my "business" very difficult to do!. So many things distract me waaaay to easily. Let's see....there's baking a yummy cake on a Wednesday, to take to my pottery class on a Thursday - I spend the entire day there mucking about with pliable and (mostly) obedient clay, trying to create something beautiful at the end. I can afford to spend this day doing just this because...I GAVE UP SMOKING 6 MONTH AGO! That also explains why I am baking cakes ..... my mouth wants, no, neeeeeeeds to have a delicious slice (or more) of heaven to lovingly chew on and savour. A reward that is certainly not doing my waistline any favours at all:(

Navigator Cuff
Make no mistake...I am super happy that I stopped smoking. Everything smells and tastes better. It also means...it is six months ago that I had the op that saved my life and I am just as happy to be alive!!!!! what's not so cool is that I have been in design limbo for the same length of time. I had 2 ops in the space of 9 months and my motivation and drive seem to have gone into hibernation.  I have 2 beading designs ..... half written up and I am finding it hard to finish the patterns - like I have writers block or maybe it is just lazilightis.

So, blogging is the first step to sorting out my stupid affliction and the next is to put up a HUGE SALE......to celebrate 1/2 a year of living a new life, smoke free. So, without further ado......
